Week in Review
Our poetry unit is off to a great start! We brainstormed ideas to write into poems and even wrote a few.
We observed soil last week. We sketched and wrote descriptive words to describe sand, clay and silt. A magnifying glass was put to great use!

Reading - We will continue reading series in book clubs. We will predict what a character will do based on our knowledge from prior chapters and/or books and study character's relationships with other characters. We will start studying the author's craft by "painting a picture" in our minds while reading.
Writing - While reading and writing poetry we will focus on using precise words, repetition, and matching the mood to the message of a poem.
Math - We are working with adding and subtracting larger numbers. We work our mental math by practicing breaking larger numbers apart to add and subtract easier.
Science - Worms will visit our classroom this week. We will study what they look like and what they do for soil.
