Week in Review
We started a new reading unit "Becoming Experts and Reading Nonfiction" with Ms. Siegel reading Knights in Shining Armor. We gave headings to sections of the book, looked at new words, and had a class seminar (discussion) to culminate our learning.
The small moments (narratives) were published with a cover and about the author page. These will be shared during the Open House next Tuesday.
After learning about the parts of the tree and their function, everyone made a model to represent all the parts.

Reading - We are continuing the 2nd unit "Becoming Experts and Reading Nonfiction." We will look at different types of nonfiction text including maps, diagrams, models, and globes. We will learn how to ask questions while reading and ask ourselves what the text is teaching us.
Writing - We will share our small moments with the rest of the 2nd grade. The classes will rotate to each class and read a few stories and leave compliments.
Math - We are starting our next unit in math "Addition and Subtraction using Place Value." We will practice adding and subtracting using base ten blocks and drawn models.
