Week in Review
We started learning about polygons and experimented with how many sides and angles we could use to make a polygon.
We finished our longer opinion writing and shared a few. Everyone really worked hard on making new paragraphs for new ideas (something new for 2nd grade)!
We read 2 more books for March Madness. The Bear and the Piano moved to the next round.

Reading - We are starting same book partners this week. Each partnership will read the same picture book at the same time. We will practice stopping and discussing our understanding of major events, problems the character face, literary words, and questioning when there is a confusing part. In April we will read longer chapter books in partnerships.
Writing - We are starting our last opinion writing by giving book awards. Everyone will give an award to a book they have read and provide evidence to support the award. These awards might be funniest, most suspenseful, best pictures, etc.
Math - We are using our knowledge of polygons to learn about equal shares of shapes. We will explore halves, thirds, and fourths while looking at triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, and hexagons.
Social Studies - We are getting passports and will explore the world at our World Bazaar! Everyone has chosen 3 countries to learn more about and will "visit" them through our guests, 2nd grade parents. We will also learn about South America and some of the major landforms and cities located on the continent.
