Week in Review
We met with our kindergarten buddies last week to hear them read their personal narratives.
We started same book partners. Partners read the same book and wrote post-it notes for the important parts of the story, literary language, and anything they wanted to remember. Everyone had a discussion about the book using the post-its to guide them.
Tangrams were a huge hit last week! We were practicing our flexible thinking while turning, flipping and combining shapes from a tangram to make other shapes.
We finished learning about the continent of North America by playing a Native American game called Stick Dice. The materials and directions came home last week.

Reading - We will continue reading the same books as partners to foster book conversations. To keep track of longer books, post-it notes will be used to document the important events of the book. We will also form goal clubs, where each students will choose a goal to focus on for the following week.
Writing - We will start the last opinion writing, nominating a book for an award. The given award will be supported with evidence from the book and quotes.
Math - We will combine our knowledge of polygons with the concepts of equal parts. We will practice dividing polygons into halves, thirds and fourths.
Social Studies - We will learn about the continent of Europe and some important landforms that are found there.
