Week in Review
2nd graders led the all school meeting on Monday. We celebrated reading by showing a video starring 2nd grade readers and leading the entire school in 5 minutes of independent reading.
We culminated our graphing unit by creating all 4 types of graphs (tally chart, bar graph, pictograph, and line plot) while playing a friendly game of rock, paper, scissors.
We visited Natick Organic Farms to learn about the maple syrup making process and all the animals on the farm. There were so many exciting new things that it was hard to choose a favorite!

Reading - We are focusing on finding special language while reading and building our collection. We are practicing sustaining reading for a longer time.
Writing - We are looking at authors as an example for opinion writing. We will discover ways they use to write about opinions (comics and speech bubbles, words in fancy fonts, maps, etc.)
Math - We are starting our geometry unit. We will explore what attributes are needed for a shape to be considered a polygon, how many angles and sides are in each polygon, and identifying and building polygons with given names (triangle, quadrilateral, pentagon and hexagon).
Social Studies - We will learn the names of all the continents and major oceans and where they are located on the earth. We will look at each continent separately. We will first explore our own continent, North America.
